Thinking about becoming a Radiology Practitioner Assistant (RPA) or Radiologist Assistant (RA)? This is the only book available which answers most commonly asked questions and gives you the formula for success!

If you are looking for the first comprehensive guide to help you become a better radiology practitioner assistant (RPA) or you just want to know how you can utilize the RPA/RA in your practice, this is the book for you. It is in fact the first comprehensive guide to understanding the Radiologist extender. This how-to survival guide covers everything from defining the RPA/RA, choosing and attending a program to securing a position as an extender. Further this book uses systematic approaches to common problems with credentialing issues, medical billing and career choices.

For Radiologic technologists and RPA/RA students this guide provides the basics to achieving success. Whether you are just thinking about going to school or are going through the radiologist extender program, you can find everything you need explained in full detail. Most technologists and RPA/RA professionals do not get a chance to read all of the facts which have been presented over the years. This guide puts all of the information in one convenient place for you to use as a resource when ever you or your employer have a question about the profession.

Employers of radiologic technologists can use this guide to decide if this is what is needed in their current practice and have the tools needed to implement the program. Many hospitals are struggling with how to address the needs of the medical staffing offices which are trying to incorporate the extenders. This book gives the staffing office the tools to make better decisions about adding the RPA/RA persons to the hospital credentialing process.

Radiologists get a chance to see what other radiologists think about the RPA/RA they have employed in their practices. Further, they can assess if this is what is needed to alleviate their current problems with shortages and hospital or clinic coverage.

This compact resource makes sense of all of the consensus reports, news articles and individual view points and presents them in an easy to understand format. Chock full of information and resources this book makes a great addition for radiologic technologists, administrators, hospital credentialing offices and radiologists as well as the RPA/RA students.

About the Author

Bhawna Oberoi is a fifteen-year veteran of radiology and has committed her life to learning from others and giving back if the opportunity arises. She was rather young when she relocated to the United States at the age of 10, but knew that it would take hard work to achieve the goals she had set for her self. After graduating from high school, she attended the Radiologic technology program while enlisted in the US Army Reserves. She graduated at the top of her class and later continued her education as a pre-med student while working full-time. She was called to active duty during the Gulf War, but after serving her time at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, she married and continued her Pre-Medical education. After careful consideration she decided against medical school and chose the RPA program offered at Weber State University. While working for a radiology group in Austin, she persuaded her employers to fund her schooling and became the first Radiology Practitioner Assistant in Texas. Having experienced trials and tribulations which come from being a trail blazer, she now gives back to the so many who have much doubt about the newest profession in radiology. Aside from radiology, she enjoys teaching, painting and cooking. She is also very active in the National Society for Radiology Practitioner Assistants and is available to anyone who has interest in the RPA/RA profession.

This dictionary, though hand sized, contains a surprisingly large number of words plus gramatical forms (which are very helpful to those learning a language), tough it does not contain lessions in grammar per se. Its cross referencing is excellent.
