From Library Journal
A compilation of books with overt spiritual themes for preschoolers through young adults.
These titles represent a variety of genres, including retellings of Bible stories, prayer books, creation stories, songbooks, holiday tales, mysteries, and biographies from both religious and trade publishers. All have been published since 1990, but Dole concludes each chapter with an "Older and Noteworthy" section. Opening chapters present titles dealing with general concepts about religion, God, prayer, and the Bible; middle chapters include books on the Judeo-Christian tradition; and concluding sections suggest books on Native American religions, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and a variety of other faiths. Each of the nearly 700 critically annotated entries includes bibliographic information, though grade levels are not indicated. A highly useful resource for academic, religious, and public libraries.
