Grade 5-9-This edition broadens the scope of the Career Discovery Encyclopedia (Ferguson, 1997; 2000) to cover 659 careers, including some that are more obscure, such as "Animal Handler" and "Medical Ethicist." Each two-page entry has four sections: a job description, education and training requirements, outlook, and contact points for more information. Sidebars highlight required school subjects, personal skills, minimum education levels, salary range, and related fields. While the format and layout of the set remain fundamentally the same as in earlier editions, a few changes (glossy paper and blue headings and highlights) make for a more pleasing design. Libraries owning the 1997 edition will surely want to update their collections with this one; those that have a heavily used 2000 version should also consider purchasing this reliable, succinct source.
