Author
Dr. Joanne Yatvin recently retired from a long career in public education and now teaches part-time in the Graduate School of Education at Portland State University. In addition to authoring the dissenting opinion on the NRP report, her varied education career has included teaching elementary, middle, and high school students as well as serving as an elementary principal, a district superintendent, and, beginning in November 2004, Vice President of NCTE.
